What Monitors Do
Monitors are volunteers who help keep Wixon running smoothly during the busy season. They welcome players, organize fair rotations, and ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all skill levels. Their presence is what makes monitored play work so well.
How Monitors Communicate
- To players: Monitors use the main TeamReach group (DennisPB01) to announce weather delays, early closures, and other in-session updates.
- To the board and other monitors: A separate monitors-only TeamReach group is used for scheduling, coverage, procedure questions, and coordination among monitors.
Core Responsibilities
- Create a friendly, inclusive environment
- Keep games moving by tracking courts and sending out foursomes in order
- Enforce basic safety and etiquette expectations
- Make weather decisions and communicate delays or cancellations through TeamReach
- Follow emergency procedures and document incidents when needed
- Notify the board of any significant issues
- As a thank-you, monitors who volunteer extensively may receive recognition or support benefits determined each season by FODP and the Town of Dennis.
Other Ways to Volunteer
Not everyone needs to be a monitor. Volunteers also support FODP through:
- Social committee work, including seasonal events and community-building activities.
- Tournament and round robin organization.
- Court maintenance and light upkeep to keep Wixon in great shape.
